Engaged?! Now what?

Engaged?! Now what?

Congrats! You’ve got the bling on your finger and a mate that wants to spend the rest of their life with you! This is a time for many emotions - surprise, happiness, excitement...then fear, stress, anxiety. What do you do now?

Maybe you’re scrolling through Pinterest and obsessing over this super beautiful bohemian arch with overflowing florals, or the crystal chandeliers you’ve always dreamed of having at your reception. Though your first instinct may be to get all the pretty things first, take a second and breathe.

The most important (first) thing to do is to come up with a budget for your wedding. I know people say this alllllllll the time, but trust me, it IS important. The last thing you want is to be 1 month out from your wedding and realize your venue does not include the seating as you thought they did, and you’re out of cash. People will just have to sit on the floor, I guess!

Lady, chill. Breathe...and remember that everything will be okay. It will be wonderful, actually, because you are marrying the love of your life! And that is what really matters here. You are a team, so remember that.

Sit your fiance down and come up with a game plan first. How much can you afford to spend on the wedding as a whole? Then work backwards to figure out what you should spend on a venue, food, alcohol, etc. This can always be rearranged if needed. Remember, pretty things come last.

Before you start searching for venues, consider hiring a planner to take the load off. Yes, I am saying this because I am a professional wedding planner. Though, I am also saying it for your sanity. If you work, or have a life in general, you just might realize how quickly your time vanishes and the bridezilla sees fit to come out. Find a professional to do the work for you, so you can rest easy at night and actually enjoy this once-in-a-lifetime experience. It’s sooo worth it.

Come up with a guest list (or rough figure) of how many people will be attending your wedding. This is important when it comes to selecting a venue and catering options. This will also help you determine how much each person will cost (food & drink wise) to attend your big day.

Create a wedding timeline to figure out when you need to pay the DJ, or do cake tastings, etc. Book your vendors first, then Pinterest-it-up!

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask! Happy planning :)
